NURSERY Our staff strives to offer the Newborns of our community the best start on life’s journey. A 24 hour nursery is provided for your convenience. Our new nursery is much larger and has a state of the art infant security system. Our staff provides 24 hour newborn care. There is also an “isolation room” for sick babies and the nursery is able to care for premature babies not requiring ventilators. However, we at Mena Regional understand and support your wishes to have rooming in to promote bonding, if your condition and the infant’s condition permits. Call 243-2214 for more information. MAMMOGRAPHY Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system for the examination of breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used as a screening tool to detect early breast cancer in women experiencing no symptoms and to detect and diagnose breast disease in women experiencing symptoms such as a lump, pain or nipple discharge. Bone Density Using QCT Bone Densitometry (QCT) is performed here at Mena Regional using our CT scanner. This gives more accurate results than bone density with DEXA, which is standard in most imaging facilities. The scanning time of QCT is about 15 minutes, whereas DEXA is closer to 30 minutes. QCT measures the inner (trabeculae) of the bone, which is the first area to be changed by Osteoporosis, giving more accurate results of changing bone density. We suggest having these scheduled with your Mammogram appointment as an easy way to ensure both studies are done yearly. If you are at risk for Osteoporosis, insurance and Medicare may allow one per year, so there may be little, if any, out of pocket expense. Osteoporosis is a manageable disease, with the current medications, so ask your doctor to schedule your exam today. Call us for more information.

Your privacy is important to us. We respect the
wishes of our patients. The nursing staff creates an individualized
plan of care for you. Your family is important to us so we offer
visiting whenever the patient wants. Signs for the door are available
to let the family know when would be a good time for visiting. We
offer all of our patients private rooms with private bathrooms at
Mena Regional Health System.
We
encourage you to contact us in advance of your delivery so that
we can help answer any of your questions you may have and make and
suggestions on what to do to be prepared. We offer tours of Women’s
Services at your convenience. We also offer a Pre-Induction and
Pre-Cesarean Section Teaching program. Through this program you
come in prior to your induction or cesarean section and all of your
consents are signed and teaching is done with you. We answer any
questions that you might have at this time.

smile or daddy’s
nose! Schedule an appointment with our radiology department, and
for just $100 you can see these amazing images of your precious
one and receive a disk of still photos for additional prints
or to e-mail. There is no radiologist interpretation with this
promotion.
